What Would “Future You” Do With Your Finances?

What if you could feel calm and centered around money?  Are you one who knows how to make aligned financial decisions, trusts yourself fully, and leads your financial life with clarity and purpose?

If you are, you are not often rushing, stressed, or reacting out of worry or fear. Instead, you’re moving forward in flow, with intention, trust, and confidence.

That can be you, and if you don’t feel like this is you now, this can be the future you

The future you is closer than you think, if you are willing to step into her shoes and start feeling and acting like her now.

My first money coach inspired me and always spoke of making decisions from where you want to be, not from where you are (or where you never want to be). She was the only woman coach at the time calling herself a “million dollar coach.” I was mesmerized by the matter-of-fact boldness in how she described herself. She gracefully normalized the idea of a woman making that kind of money, doing what she loved.

She wasn’t bragging or apologetic – there was an energy of emotional neutrality around her words. She introduced me to how it could feel to have a positive energetic relationship with money.

My relationship with money has certainly had its ups and downs, but I know what makes for a better relationship, and I’m aware when my thoughts and energy are sabotaging my efforts, so I can center myself when necessary.

Do you want a better relationship with your money?

Here are a few ways to get there:

Confidence Comes from Clarity

Future you is confident not because you know everything or never make mistakes, but because you know yourself. You’ve taken the time to get clear on what you want and what you value, so decisions feel less like pressure and more like alignment.

You understand your own thoughts about money. Particularly the automatic ones that cascade into your mind immediately when a money decision is presented. You understand your tendencies – quick action vs. lengthy analysis, etc. And, you understand the importance of knowing when YOU are getting in the way of progress.

You no longer only ask, “What should I do?,” but also listen for the quiet, inner answer to, What feels right for me?” What feels like it will lead me to a life that feels the way I want to feel? That question alone changes everything. And it’s a question that you have to answer for yourself.

Financial Freedom Isn’t About Numbers First

We tend to believe financial freedom is about income, savings, or hitting some distant quantifiable milestone. But what if it’s actually about your relationship first?

The future you enjoys a healthy, trusting relationship with money. You are not perfect with your finances, but you are positively connected to your financial condition and your abundant mindset, so improvements can be made.

You understand what you want your money to do for you, and you interact with it often. There’s no avoidance, no shame, no panic – instead, a healthy partnership.

That’s what creates real financial freedom — the kind that feels safe, powerful, and peaceful. The kind that draws money to you as you execute your strategies (yes, you need strategic action, but in a poor relationship with money you are less likely to take that action).

Purpose Creates Flow

When you know your purpose and live in alignment with it — whether in your work or home life, decision making stops feeling like a minefield. The best right action becomes obvious.

If you feel you are hustling to prove your worth, chronically working to avoid failure instead of moving ahead, or doing what others expect you to do for their comfort, you will have trouble feeling that flow. Stress will prevail.

Your purpose pulls you out of that mode and forward. Even when it’s hard, it’s for a reason you can relate to and you’ll feel motivated to do what needs to be done.

And, when accompanied by money goals, you create the tools to accelerate your process.

You become someone who moves with certainty, even if you don’t know every detail of the path ahead. You progress toward a vision, and adapt as you go, because your purpose matters to you. People more easily do what they like to do which leads to less procrastination and more achievement.

Your purpose can help you connect with the vision of your future which will help you to perceive the way forward. And when you plan accordingly and get even a bit of momentum going, expect everything to begin to shift.

The path to becoming this future version of yourself begins with intention — and your relationship with money, one of your partners on this journey, will begin to transform as you include it in your purpose.
