Karen Pudetti took her dad’s advice and studied accounting in college. However, she knew at nineteen years old she wanted to be her own boss and work in the beauty industry. She knew that was her true passion. Karen went back to school and received her electrolysis certification, her wax and esthetic licenses.
Karen also wanted to make a good living for herself and not depend on her husband. She worked out of her house two and half days a week making over $100K a year. By working out of her house Karen was able to start building a clientele and quickly realized she needed more space to service her growing customer base. The timing was perfect in 2005 as Karen came across a small spa that was going bankrupt. She knew she could turn the spa around and make it profitable, therefore, purchased it. Luxe Spa had 8 employees at the time. In the first year, additional space became available in the same building and the Luxe hair salon was born and she tripled the number of employees.
